What I love most about turmeric is the color. Definitely the color. Is it not some sort of tiny miracle that a naturally occurring root produces such a deep, rich, sunshiney hue? It really just makes my day when I get to cook with turmeric.
Turmeric is also super yummy for your skin. Research indicates turmeric can help with skin pigmentation - reducing the appearance of acne and scars. So, with spring right around the corner and the evening light lingering a bit longer these days, I was inspired to make a soothing body masque with gorgeous turmeric as the star. Let's do this.
1 tsp turmeric powder
2 tbsp shea butter
Mix your shea butter and vegetable glycerin together in a container, making sure they are fully combined. Add in the turmeric, and stir to combine. Be careful when stirring, the powerful yellow powder can be difficult to remove when spilled. Store in a cool, dark cabinet for up to 1 month.
To use, spread lavishly on your body (after a good scrub) and let sit for 5 minutes before washing off thoroughly. I find this ritual best practiced in the bathtub.
