Honey, as I’ve discovered this year, is an incredibly powerful ingredient that does wonders for the skin. It’s a gentle astringent that also acts as a powerful anti-inflammatory for facial tissue. I’ve pretty much cured my cystic acne (that was caused by hormonal imbalances when I got a new IUD) with raw honey. And now I’ve been incorporating raw honey into other skincare recipes so I can gift the magic to my friends.
The combination of raw honey with soothing chamomile and elderflower (in powdered form) creates a beautiful mixture that will reduce puffy, red, tired skin while disinfecting clogged pores. Your friends with mild acne and dry, red, flaky skin? This mask is for them.
Herbal Honey Facial Mask
Place the dried chamomile and elderflower in a clean coffee grinder and grind into a powder. Set aside.
Pour honey into a sterilized jar. Place jar in a water bath over low heat for 15 mins or until it is warm and easier to stir. Do not boil. That will destroy the active ingredients in the honey.
Add in the herb powder while the honey is warm and stir until well combined. Remove from warm water bath and let cool.
To use, first apply a warm washcloth to your face to soften the skin. Then apply the honey mask all over face and leave on for 10 mins. Rinse off with warm water.
How long will the honey mask keep for after making and how does it need to be stored?
Hi Jo,
This mask should last 3-4 months. You can store it in the refrigerator or in a cool, dark cupboard.
wowwww sounds good!
Hi,
The link provided no longer functions. How can I get that recipe?
Dar
Hi Dar, thanks for pointing that out. It looks like they shut down Soundness of Body & Mind?! So I put the original recipe up here so you can see it. I appreciate you letting me know!
