Hey there,

creative gal!

You’ve landed on a post I wrote a few years ago -
back when I was known as The Dabblist and was exploring all sorts of ways I could create beautiful things with my hands. It was a powerful time for me — awakening my creativity after suppressing it for so long — but this space has since evolved to reflect the woman I’m becoming.

In this time of uncertain weather patterns, I like to take charge of my body and make my own medicinal remedies. For the sniffly cold symptoms, I've touched upon a Ginger Honey Lemon remedy before but recently learned about Fire Cider and how it can kick the healing up a notch.

These powerful ingredients will take on your sinuses big time. I've seen several variations on the recipe (including various herbs like horseradish or cinnamon), but I'm a big fan of fresh turmeric and love the look of the little orange Habeneros peppers.

Ingredients

1/2 yellow Onion, chopped

1 tbsp fresh Turmeric, grated

1 tbsp fresh Ginger, chopped

1 Garlic clove, chopped

4 Habenero Peppers

Apple Cider Vinegar (to cover the herbs)

Combine all the herbs in a jar and cover with vinegar. Store in the refrigerator for at least a month, then strain out all the solid bits so you just have the infused cider leftover. Add in a tablespoon or two of honey to sweeten it up. You can imbibe in two ways. Either sip by the spoonful as a healing tonic or add it to warm water and drink as a tea. Just be prepared for the spicy!
