DIY Lemon Tomato Face Masque - Becca Piastrelli

Hey there,

creative gal!

You’ve landed on a post I wrote a few years ago -
back when I was known as The Dabblist and was exploring all sorts of ways I could create beautiful things with my hands. It was a powerful time for me — awakening my creativity after suppressing it for so long — but this space has since evolved to reflect the woman I’m becoming.

I've seen a lot of face masques on blogs and pinterest involving ingredients like honey, oatmeal, and avocado. I tried them. I'm not even sure they worked, to be honest. So I've been reading up on which fresh ingredients really do help nourish the skin, and am all about tomatoes right now. Tomatoes are antioxidants that fight free radicals and whose acidity help dry oily skin, and are rich in vitamins.

Lemons contain a natural astringent agent, helping to exfoliate and remove dead skin cells. Oatmeal (the go-to DIY face masque ingredient) is super absorbent, removing excess oils, bacteria, and dead skin cells.

Let's combine these ingredients and make a face masque!

Ingredients:

1 medium tomato

4 tbsp oats

1 meyer lemon, juiced

Put your oats in a blender, and blend into a coarse powder. Add in the tomato and lemon juice, and blend until a thick paste forms. To use as a masque, rub on face and allow to harden before washing off and moisturizing. Keep refrigerated for up to 2 weeks.
