Beyond Salt & Pepper - Herbal Sprinkle Magic in the Kitchen - Becca Piastrelli

Hey there,

creative gal!

You’ve landed on a post I wrote a few years ago -
back when I was known as The Dabblist and was exploring all sorts of ways I could create beautiful things with my hands. It was a powerful time for me — awakening my creativity after suppressing it for so long — but this space has since evolved to reflect the woman I’m becoming.

The kitchen used to be a source of stress for me. Not having beautiful, healthy food in the fridge, the pressure of having to figure out a meal after the end of a long day, and endless dishes needing to be washed consumed me every time I stepped foot in that room of the house.

But somewhere along the way, all that changed when I made the kitchen my headquarters for my dabbling.  What was once a messy room of chaos turned into place where magic happened. Where I could create beautiful, nourishing brews that helped me remember what it meant to play and feel my feminine wisdom again.

One of my latest magical, alchemical discoveries has been herbal sprinkles. This is taking salt and pepper  to another level by incorporating healing plants and herbs into your everyday food seasonings. You can add dried mixtures to all sorts of foods - pie crusts, muffins, meat rubs, salad dressings, marinades, etc.

I like to keep mine in salt and pepper shakers or little bowls with mini serving spoons. They make great and unique gifts.

Here are 2 of my favorites:

Digestive Support Herbal Sprinkle

Digestive Supporting Herbal Sprinkle

The 4 ingredients in this sprinkle serve as prevention and healing for your overworked digestive system - helping efficiently digest nutrients in your food. It's great added to toast, hot cereals, or mixing into yogurt. If you don't have the herbs powdered, you can put them in a coffee grinder together to easily powder them up.

  • 3 tbsp powdered flax seeds
  • 2 tbsp powdered cinnamon
  • 1 tsp powdered ginger
  • 1/2 tsp powdered cardamom

Combine in a shaker and serve. Shelf life is 6 months.

Happy Body Herbal Seasoning
