Hey there,

creative gal!

You’ve landed on a post I wrote a few years ago -
back when I was known as The Dabblist and was exploring all sorts of ways I could create beautiful things with my hands. It was a powerful time for me — awakening my creativity after suppressing it for so long — but this space has since evolved to reflect the woman I’m becoming.

Today is the super talented Jennifer from Jenni Rain Cloud. Jennifer is a total skin whisperer - an aesthetician who truly understands how pure ingredients affect the skin. Check out her lovely creations on her Etsy shop, they are so yummy looking. And now, enjoy this recipe for an anti-aging potion. xo, Becca

anti-aging serum

A serum helps boost the action of your cleanser, toner and moisturizer. It is a potent cocktail designed to give your skin the results you desire.

This serum contains a blend of Macadamia Nut Oil, Meadowfoam Seed Oil, and an essential oil blend.

Macadamia Nut oil contains palmitoleic acid which is normally found in skin, but as we age we don't produce it as readily. Palmitoleic Acid has many great anti aging qualities. Some of these compounds have been found to decrease the rate in which the skin matures and it also decreases the signs of aging! Macadamia Nut oil also contains antioxidants which attack free radicals in the skin. Free radicals speed up the signs of aging. Antioxidants kill free radicals. So, the more antioxidants the better. This oil has anti inflammatory properties which will help heal blemishes. It's a light, non greasy oil that the skin absorbs quickly. It also helps to soften and moisturize the skin.

Meadowfoam Seed Oil is an excellent oil for aging skin. It absorbs quickly but leaves a light barrier that holds moisture in the skin. It's softening and moisturizing power is amazing. It provides natural protection from the sun and helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles. It is rich in Vitamins C and E. Meadowfoam Seed Oil is ultra rejuvenating.

Frankincense Essential Oil helps to repair and renew skin cells. It also has pH balancing properties.

Lavender is calming to the skin as well as moisturizing.

Myrtle Essential Oil is excellent for reviving a sluggish thyroid. It is antibacterial and anti fungal.

These 3 oils (frankincense, lavender, and myrtle) together pack quite a punch, not to mention their intoxicating smell.

Anti Aging Skin Serum

  • 2 tbsp. Macadamia Nut Oil (like this)
  • 1.5 tbsp. Meadowfoam Seed Oil (like this)
  • 10 drops Frankincense Essential Oil (like this)
  • 10 drops Lavender Essential Oil (like this)
  • 5 drops Myrtle Essential Oil (like this)

Add all ingredients to a glass bottle. This recipe makes 2 oz. I like to use a dropper for a lid because this serum is so potent you don't need much. You can also recycle 15ml essential oil bottles. Four 15ml bottles equal 2 oz.

To Use: Apply this serum at night. All ingredients quickly absorb but it is a rich serum and works best on clean skin. Apply after a toner and skip your moisturizer. An added bonus is that the lavender might just help you sleep better. This serum should be used daily. Wash your skin as usual in the morning and proceed with a toner and moisturizer.

This serum has a shelf life of around 2 years, but I like to make small batches in order to ensure potency.
